Crisp Toffee Bars

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted enriched flour
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts


  1. Thoroughly cream together butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add flour, mix well. Stir in chocolate and walnuts.
  2. Press mixture into ungreased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 in jelly roll pan.
  3. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 25 minutes or until browned.
  4. While warm, cut into bars or squares.
  5. Cool before removing from pan.
