German Potato Salad

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/4 lb bacon
  • 1/4 cup bacon drippings
  • 4 cups potatoes, cooked and diced


  1. Cool potatoes in boiling water until firm (about 15 minutes). Cool.
  2. Cook bacon until crisp. Crumble and set aside. Reserve bacon fat.
  3. Mix sugar, flour, salt and pepper. Then mix vinegar, water and bacon fat.
  4. Mix all ingredients except bacon and potatoes together and cook for 5 minutes or until thick
  5. Add bacon and potatoes. Stir until coated.
  6. Cook until heated.
  7. Serve warm.
