Chicken â la King

Seems to me we had this last Christmas Eve.

You can double or triple it - it's just a great recipe! This supposedly serves 8 - pretty small appetites, me thinks!!

Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes


  • 1 6-oz, can sliced mushrooms, drained (I use fresh ones - as many as you wish)
  • 1/2 cup diced green pepper
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • pepper
  • 2 cups half and half
  • I 3/4 cup chicken broth (14-oz. can)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, cubed (white meat - 3breasts)
  • 1 4-oz. can chopped pimientos
  • Pepperidge Farms patty shells


  1. In a large pot, cook and stir mushrooms and green pepper in butter for 5 minutes.
  2. Blend in flour, salt and pepper.
  3. Cook over low heat, stirring until bubbly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in cream and chicken broth.
  5. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  6. Add pimiento and chicken cubes.
  7. Heat thoroughly and serve in prepared patty shells.
