Scalloped Potatoes

They do go great with meatloaf, but are equally as good with baked ham - as our Christmas dinners testify!This recipe is for an ordinary-sized casserole. Suit the amount of potatoes to fill the casserole.

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour
Total Time 1 hour 15 minutes


  • 6 good-sized potatoes - baking ones don't work as well.
  • butter
  • flour
  • salt and pepper
  • milk


  1. Peel and slice a layer of potatoes into a greased casserole.
  2. Dot with butter and sprinkle with about 2 tbsp. of flour.
  3. Salt and pepper.
  4. Repeat layers to the top of the casserole.
  5. Add milk until you can just see it coming to the top of the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle with paprika.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for a good hour.

I sometimes place a piece of foil under the casserole in case it bubbles over.
